NEX Wellness Mission Statement

While in general, health is defined as freedom from physical disease and pain, at NEX Wellness we prefer to define health as an evolving process where the body and the mind perform its’ vital functions in a manner consistent with a state of well-being.

The NEX Wellness Team provides an extensive array of services to meet this goal and the needs of today’s patient. From traditional medicine to complementary therapies, the Team works together with the patient toward an understanding of the underlying cause(s) impacting the individual’s unique experience of health.

Complementary Medical Model vs. Conventional Medical Model
Integrative medicine can best be described as an approach that combines the best ideas and practices of both conventional and alternative medicine. It may be considered as Complementary medicine.

Conventional medicine encompasses a disease oriented paradigm of care. When you are sick, a doctor is seen who will typically prescribe a pill to make you better. Conventional medical treatment is based almost exclusively on a physical and chemical model. This biomedical model restricts physical effects to physical causes and the diseased state is viewed as a chemical malfunction. This model does not consider the non-physical elements that play a vital role in health and wellness.

Complementary medicine recognizes some of the inherent limitations of the biomedical model. Practitioners believe that health should not be imposed on patients, but rather gently encouraged from within with the exploration and subsequent treatment of the underlying cause(s) of dis-ease. Specifically whenever possible to take advantage of the body’s own potential for self-healing.

Treatments are individualized in accordance with specific goals established by the practitioner together with the patient and accounting for his/her unique experience.
